Workshop Referrals

We are now able to take individual referrals at our new premises on Wanstead Road. Motorbike mechanics, repairs and restoration continue to be the main focus of our work with young people and we endeavour to provide a good range of bikes for the young people to work on.

We have tried to create a relaxed, friendly workspace incorporating a strong learning/work ethic with structured sessions that meet the needs and interests of the young people. While most of the bikes are sold upon completion, we keep a small selection of on and off road bikes which the young people can maintain, repair, and service. Regular visits to Airfield Farm motocross track provide an opportunity for young people to develop their riding skills.

Our 1995 Honda Civic was very (very) kindly donated to us by Tracy Bradford from Leicester City Youth Offending Service. Young people can further develop their knowledge and skills through the maintenance, service and repair of the car. Young people also prepare and enter the car in auto-trials competitions giving them valuable experience behind the wheel in a safe, structured environment.

This is our twin engine Honda pro-kart. Team AXLR8 has entered the 2009 pro-kart championships at Stretton Circuit in Leicester. Young people maintain and prepare the kart for each race meeting and we change driver for each heat to enable all young people to participate. Karting is a fast, fun way for young people to develop skills around speed awareness, traction control, cornering techniques, driving in different weather conditions etc. A strong teamwork ethic is essential for race meetings and young people have developed a good understanding of track policies, procedures, race rules, regulations, personal safety issues etc.
